How many of us dread moving our house or office?

I am sure everyone agrees that moving is expensive, we want to cut down on our moving cost but we lack experience on packing fragile items and cant bear to part with items that is taking up unnecessary space. Lastly many of us do not have the right experience in engaging the right movers Singapore. 

In every moving, owners will be facing with two dilemmas to either engage professional movers or do the moving themselves?

  

In my biog, I will share tips for you to decide which option is more suitable for your situation: to engage a House Movers company in Singapore or to do the house moving yourself. Moving costs can be expensive, it is important to understand your needs and avoid any hidden cost! 

If you decide to engage a movers company in Singapore, it is important to take note of the important points to reduce your mover’s quotation.

·         Donate stuff that you do not need. Give your items to your neighbours or friends who will need them. There are also a few charity organizations in Singapore who will be happy to receive items in good condition. Example, The Salvation Army, you can email donor@SMM.salvationarmy.org and do arrangement with them for pick-up of furniture and bulky items. They also have various donation drop-off centres in Singapore.  The less items you have, this will reduce the weight and reduce the cost.

·         Avoid moving during peak period. Peak periods are months before the popular public holidays, example New Year’s Day, Chinese New Year or Christmas. These festive seasons are the period where contractors are rushing to finish their renovation works, and people are waiting to move into their new homes. Friends, who prefer to do the moving themselves and rent a lorry for the move, need to consider, it is important to take note of the important points.

Request for site survey.

Lorry rental is normally by the hours, arrange for the site survey so that the driver can advice on the suitable lorry to put in all your stuff, either 10ft or 14 ft lorry. An experience driver will give you good advice on the lorry that you should be renting to complete the move in time.

For inexperience owners who need to keep to their budget, it is important to hire a driver with experience in packing and moving. Though the owners will be carrying out the moving and lifting of the items themselves, equipped with a good and experience driver who will be able to guide you through the whole moving experience.

  Avoid renting lorry with driver inexperience in moving.
The price might be attractive but avoid getting delayed and into unwanted situation. Any delays in the moving and transition will result in increased cost at the end of the day.
